The Mali Developer Center is an online portal for the growing number of developers, technology partners, software vendors and content companies who create content around ARM® Mali™ IP. Members can benefit from a wealth of information through the forum and can access a range of materials including free tools, sample code, development boards, drivers and documentation.

With Cortex® CPUs in over 95% of all smartphones and Mali GPUs in over 20% of Android smartphones, 50% of Android tablets and 70% of DTVs, it is increasingly important for developers to consider optimizing for ARM IP before publishing their next app. Developing for mobile requires extremely different techniques to developing for console or PC. The restricted form factor of a smartphone limits the bandwidth available to a mere 8-12GB/s and power to 3-7W. Yet it is still more than possible to develop compelling applications with rich graphics, high frame rates and a responsive interface within this limited budget so that the user can enjoy playing without draining the battery within minutes!

The Mali Developer Center draws on ARM’s in-depth knowledge and experience of mobile processor technology to give developers the tools and techniques needed to make AAA applications on mobile.

ARM Mali Tools

ARM provides a rich portfolio of developer tools for easy software development, content creation and performance optimization targeting the GPU. Our emulators and the Mali Graphics Debugger are particularly popular.

ARM Mali SDKs

A collection of resources to help developers create fantastic OpenGL® ES 2.0 and 3.0 experiences on mobile. The various examples and tutorials are built upon a simple framework that can be easily integrated within your own applications. OpenGL ES SDKs are available for Linux and Android, and there is an additional OpenCL SDK to enable the creation of GPU Compute applications.

ARM Mali Drivers

ARM has made available the source code for the Mali GPU Kernel Device Drivers, UMP Device Drivers and DRM Device Drivers under the GPLv2 licence.

Tutorials and Developer Guides

With something suitable for every developer, within the Tutorials section you can find everything ranging from basic advice on how to optimize a Unity game for the Mali architecture to advanced techniques for batching and texture compression.

Sample Code

Our sample code enables you to gain proficiency with the latest graphics techniques by practicing and adapting the examples offered before implementing them in your next mobile application.

Development Platforms

Order your board and get developing confident in the fact that you are working with all the benefits of an open source ecosystem combined with easy access to drivers and OpenGL ES resources in the Mali Developer Center.
